- limited technical information such as browser type, device type, pages visited, IP address and security logs.
3. How we use personal information
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, check service coverage, arrange and deliver lessons, tailor tuition, manage payments and cancellations, support test bookings, keep training records, protect safety, answer complaints, maintain our website and meet legal or regulatory obligations.
Where you have agreed, we may also use photographs or a short success story to celebrate learner achievements. You can withdraw that permission for future use by contacting us.
4. Our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law, we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases:
- Contract: to take steps at your request and provide booked training.
- Legal obligation: where records or disclosures are required by law.
- Legitimate interests: to administer the academy, improve services, secure the website, prevent misuse and manage disputes, provided those interests do not override your rights.
- Consent: for optional uses such as publishing an identifiable learner photograph or sending marketing that requires consent.
- Vital interests: in a rare emergency involving someone’s health or safety.
5. Health and other sensitive information
You should tell your instructor about any condition, medication or access need that could affect safe driving or lesson delivery. Where this information is classed as special-category data, we use it only where there is an appropriate legal condition, such as your explicit consent, a substantial public-interest condition, or protection of vital interests.
6. Payments
Payment details may be processed by a bank, payment provider or invoicing service. We do not intentionally store complete payment-card details on this website. Financial records may be retained where required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention or dispute handling.
7. Sharing information
We may share the minimum necessary information with trusted providers that support hosting, email, booking, communications, accounting or professional advice. We may also share information with the DVSA, police, insurers, courts or other authorities where required or permitted by law, or where necessary to protect safety and legal rights.
We do not sell personal information.
8. International transfers
Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure an approved protection is used, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an appropriate UK addendum to standard contractual clauses.
9. How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including providing training, answering queries, maintaining appropriate pupil and financial records, resolving complaints and meeting legal requirements. Different records have different retention periods. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted, anonymised or securely destroyed.
10. Security
We use proportionate organisational and technical safeguards designed to protect information from accidental loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure. No internet or email service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information by ordinary email.
11. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction, objection to certain processing, or transfer of information you supplied. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
We may need to verify your identity before responding. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
12. Children and young learners
Driving tuition may be provided to eligible 16- or 17-year-olds. We handle a young learner’s information only as needed to arrange and deliver training safely and lawfully. A parent or guardian may be involved where appropriate, but the learner’s own privacy rights are respected.
